Music begins where the stage stops behaving.

A central artistic collaboration spanning dance, theatre and new stage music. Selected works include Maan ääressä, Ofelia — commissioned by the Helsinki Festival — and Napatuulia.

Tässä olen grew out of close collaboration between choreographer Ervi Sirén, dancer Urmas Poolamets and Ismo Laakso. Reviews singled out the living dialogue between Poolamets’s movement and Laakso’s sound world. Review in Demokraatti ↗

A sustained collaboration in which composition, movement and theatrical structure were developed together. Serenadi remains one of its defining works.

From the uncompromising, entirely self-financed Rocky Horror Show and the exposed solo work Ter Minator to A Scene for a Man and a Woman — Third Encounter, performed by Saikkonen and Minna Tervamäki in Oulu and at Helsinki’s KokoTeatteri. Music from Ofelia Adrastea runs through the later work.

An extensive body of work spanning more than one hundred stage productions across theatre, dance, opera and music theatre.
